Open banking allows financial institutions to create ecosystems of innovative products. Many banks, however, still face obstacles that prevent them from launching initiatives to open their APIs.

So on the one hand, what are those obstacles exactly? and on the other hand, what is accelerating Open Banking?

For the third consecutive year, we at the Open Bank Project, are excited to partner with our friends at Bank Innovation and (this year) the University of Warwick to conduct a research survey, which aims to understand how financial institutions worldwide are prioritizing API initiatives in 2017. We want to query the market to uncover trends, identify key drivers, and understand best practices. Last year report highlighted security and corporate culture as the main obstacles to a success of an API programme in a bank.

If you work at a bank, your opinion matters and will help shape the industry. We’d be grateful if you’d take five minutes to answer the questionnaire here so we can better understand the big picture.

Last year we received 170 contributions from more than 40 countries. All responses are kept anonymous. We will share the aggregated results on BankInnovation.net and on a report published by Open Bank Project at Money2020 Europe (you can find last year’s report here).
